On Monday afternoon, the Gamecocks made the cut for 2025 four-star linebacker Tavion Wallace out of Wayne County High School in Jesup, GA. The other teams that comprised Wallace's Top 9 were Georgia, Florida, LSU, FSU, Auburn, Louisville, Kentucky, and Arkansas.

Tavion is considered the No. 3 linebacker prospect in the nation, according to On3 sports recruiting rankings. He is a teammate of 2024 four-star South Carolina running back commit Matthew Fuller, who is a part of the Gamecocks 2024 class. Tavion is also the brother of Kentucky linebacker Trevin Wallace.

The one-time Boston College commit was actually trending towards the Gamecocks at the end of his recruitment during the Will Muschamp era at South Carolina. He signed with Kentucky as part of the 2021 class after South Carolina moved on from Will.

These connections could help the Gamecocks with their recruitment of Tavion, who is a priority recruit for this staff in the upcoming 2025 class, where they will look to replace some production that will be leaving the Gamecocks. By the time the 2025 class comes around, they will still have to battle some big teams for Tavion, but the Gamecocks are in a good position in this recruitment. The Gamecocks have also looked good for other 2025 linebacker prospects, including five-star Zayden Walker from Ellaville, GA, and four-star Gavin Nix from IMG Academy.
