When looking at each of the different position groups on South Carolina's Football team, the deepest position group is arguably the Gamecocks' defensive tackle position. Part of the reason for this is because the group is lead by five experienced and talented interior defensive linemen in Tonka Hemingway, Alex "Boogie" Huntley, TJ Sanders, Nick Barrett and Elijah Davis.

This collective experience, however, means it's imperative for South Carolina to either get players who strictly play on the interior or versatile pieces who could play either defensive end or defensive tackle at the next level. So far in the 2024 recruiting cycle, this has proven to be difficult for the Gamecocks, as after losing Justin Greene to the Georgia Bulldogs back on June 6th, another target in New Jersey native Jordan Thomas announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon.

Thomas took an official visit to Athens this past weekend, and based on what transpired this afternoon, clearly enjoyed his time and also held the Bulldogs in high regard coming into the visit. Jordan was scheduled to officially visit Columbia on the weekend of June 23rd-25th, but it remains to be seen whether or not that visit will still take place in light of these recent developments.
