South Carolina's 2024 Recruiting Class Cracks Top 5 in On3's Industry Ranking

With Josiah Thompson's commitment Friday morning, South Carolina's Football program now possesses a top 5 recruiting class according to On3's industry rankings.

Head Coach Shane Beamer has been touted as one of the best upcoming recruiters in the country. Though the past two recruiting classes for the Gamecocks have been solid, Beamer couldn't mold those classes fully into what he wanted, considering the time Beamer was hired and how long it typically takes to cultivate relationships in recruiting.

The 2024 recruiting class is Beamer's first true recruiting class at South Carolina; the results are telling. South Carolina received a massive commitment from offensive tackle Josiah Thompson on Friday morning, which pushed the Gamecocks' 2024 recruiting class into the top five in On3's rankings.

South Carolina's 2024 recruiting class already features commitments from six four-stars and one three-star. Though the team lacks the number of recruits many of the other schools on the list have, South Carolina's class promotes a high quality of recruits, including four top-150 recruits.

Currently, South Carolina's class trails only Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and Florida. Sitting at fifth in the rankings, South Carolina is primed for one of the best recruiting classes in program history.
