Lamont Paris and company have landed another significant addition from the transfer portal with the commitment of 6 foot 8 Wofford big man B.J. Mack, who led the Terriers in points per game with 16.6 and rebounds per game with 5.6. He also averaged 1.4 assists and 0.4 blocks on the season.

2022-23 Season Highs

  • 41 minutes played vs. Western Carolina
  • 28 points vs. UNC-Greensboro
  • 10 rebounds vs.UNC-Greensboro
  • 77.8 FG% vs. The Citadel and Mercer

He picked the Gamecocks over LSU, Iowa, Alabama, and Arkansas. Landing Mack over those programs is a recruiting win for some, but it's even more significant with the Carolina connection. Mack is from Charlotte, NC, about 2 hours away from Columbia, SC, the home of the Gamecocks. Still, Charlotte is very much considered Gamecock territory between all of the schools in the Carolinas. Many, if not all, the coaches at the University of South Carolina recruit the Charlotte area as if it was a part of South Carolina, so from a pipeline standpoint, it's a massive win for this staff.

This will further open the door for this staff to recruit the Charlotte area and state of North Carolina better, as well as continue to strengthen its relationship with the AAU team CP3, the same AAU team former Gamecock star G.G Jackson and Mack played on before BJ originally attended the University of South Florida before his time at Wofford university.

Mack is the fourth portal commit for Lamont Paris and his staff, joining Minnesota transfer guard Ta'Lon CooperCitadel transfer forward Stephen Clark and Vanderbilt transfer wing Myles Stute.
