Aggies Baseball Adds MAAC Player of the Year Transfer Charlie Pagliarini
Texas A&M baseball could be losing several names to the MLB draft next week, but Jim Schlossnagle is staying ahead of the curve when bringing in proven talent.
The Aggies added Fairfield third baseman and 2023 MAAC Player of the Year Charlie Pagliarini via the portal for the upcoming 2024 season. Pagliarini will have one year of eligibility remaining thanks to the eligibility waiver wire given out to players in 2020 after the season was canceled due to COVID-19.
Pagliarini made the announcement official via his Instagram Saturday evening.
Pagliarini, a hot-handed infielder with exceptional pop at the plate, set school records for the Stags in 2023, finishing with career-highs in home runs (21), RBIs (86), slugging percentage (.844), on-base percentage (.528), and total bases (162). The senior also ranked third nationally in RBIs, sixth in on-base percentage, and fourth in slugging.
The Aggies (38-27) are trying to build a longstanding winning culture entering Year 3 of the Schlossnagle era. A year removed from finishing third in the College World Series, A&M regressed both on the mound and at the plate during the midseason mark, but still managed to make a run in Hoover, Ala., during the SEC Tournament.
A&M garnered a No. 2-seed in the Stanford Regional, winning back-to-back games against Cal State Fullerton and the No. 8 Cardinal before dropping a pair of matchups to the host program.
Several players, including team captain and infielder Austin Bost, pitchers Matt Dillard and Carson Lambert and outfielders Jordan Thompson and Brett Minnich due to eligibility. Infielders Trevor Werner, Hunter Haas, Jack Moss, along with pitcher Nathan Dettmer, could all be drafted when teams on the clock come July 9.
Pagliarini won't be alone as newcomers headed to College Station come 2024. The Aggies also added Columbia outfielder Hayden Schott, Pennsylvania catcher Jackson Appel, Cal State Fullerton infielder Ali Camarillo, Michigan infielder Ted Burton, Tarleton State right-handed pitcher Zane Badmaev, Jacksonville State right-handed pitcher Tanner Jones, and San Diego State right-handed pitcher Eldridge Armstong.
