Texas A&M women's basketball coach Joni Taylor was tasked with leading the USA U19 FIBA World Cup Team this season, and that decision has paid off in the form of a gold medal. Team USA beat host country Spain on Sunday 69-66 to claim gold.

Taylor wins her fourth gold medal in Team USA Basketball, as she also won gold as a head coach for the 2022 U18 FIBA Americas team and as an assistant with the 2022 Women's National Team and 2021 U19 World Cup team.

Taylor isn't the only Aggie bringing medals home to College Station this season, as Janiah Barker brought home a silver medal with Team USA in the 2023 AmeriCup, and Tineya Hylton claimed silver with Team Canada at the 2023 GLOBL Jam competition.

Team USA registered a 7-0 record at the FIBA World Cup and beat their opposition by an average of 42.6 points per contest. Four of those wins came by 50 or more points, while no opposing team cracked the 70-point mark in the tournament.

The 44-year-old Taylor became the head coach of the Texas A&M Aggies women's basketball team on March 23, 2022, after being named the SEC Coach of the Year in 2021 while with Georgia. Taylor has also served on the coaching staff for Troy, Louisiana Tech, Alabama, and LSU, and boasts a 148-94 (.612) overall career record.
