Tennessee defensive lineman Omari Thomas is set to return to the Vols after his public announcement on Tuesday. Omari was a huge part of this Tennessee defensive line system, along with James Pearce Jr. and others. He will be entering his final year of eligibility with the Vols as he will go through another senior season.

Thomas is a defensive lineman from Memphis, Tennessee, who measures in at around 6’4, 320 pounds, and is a physical force up front. He has career academics, including the 2022-2023 SEC Football Leadership Council and the 2021 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Tennessee has already lost some members of its defense, including Jaylen McCollough, Warren Burrell, Aaron Beasley, Jack Luttrell, Tamarion McDonald, Tyler Baron, and more, due to different reasons, so this is a huge plus for the Volunteers and Tim Banks. He has put together an impressive season so far, as he has had 31 total tackles, 16 solo tackles, and one sack. He has also been a multi-year starter and a contributor for the Volunteers since the 2020 season.

The defensive line will look a bit different next season without Baron, but many expect the defensive line starters to look a bit similar, especially now that Omari has opted to return. The Vols will also bring in incoming freshmen Jordan Ross, Kellen Lindstrom, Carson Gentle, and Jeremias Heard. They also have current true freshmen Chandavian Bradley, Caleb Herring, Daevin Hobbs, Tyree Weathersby, and Nathan Robinson
