The Tennessee Volunteers are ranked in the top 5 yet again after a dominant performance.

Tennessee basketball has recently seen another jump in the rankings after tragically falling down the ranks last week. They fell to the 8th position in the prior week and have been competing in that position, pushing for a higher ranking.

On Monday, February 19th, 2024, the Volunteers jumped back into the top 5, becoming the 5th-ranked team yet again. The Volunteers are coming off a two-game dominant performance streak as they defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday 92-63, and they defended the state by dominating Vanderbilt with a score of 88-53. Jonas Aidoo was the key piece to the success of the Vols, earning himself an SEC Player of the Week award.

The Volunteers are set to face the Missouri Tigers on Tuesday in an expected win for Tennessee on the road. Tennessee could expect more big performances from star guard Zakai Zeigler and Aidoo. Missouri is a team led by Noah Carter and Sean East as they will be looking to get an upset win.

The Volunteers are continuing their campaign to raise their seed in March, as they are currently expected to be a No. 2 seed in their side of the bracket. If they have a dominant stretch to close the regular season out and do well in the tournament, the Volunteers could potentially be in a prime position for a number one seed.

Tennessee is looking to win its second SEC title in three years, as they were the victors two seasons ago under Rick Barnes. They have six regular season games remaining.
