5-star EDGE Jordan Ross Announces Commitment Date

2024 five-star Jordan Ross (Vestavia Hills, Ala.) has been a long-time target of the Tennessee Volunteers and now has set a commitment date.

Tennessee defensive line coach Rodney Garner is one of the top recruiters in the country. The Vols have felt his impact on the trail since they appointed him, especially in the 2024 class. The coaching staff has felt cautiously optimistic about several important defensive line targets over the months, one of which is five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross.

Ross is one of the most athletic evaluations in this class. The Alabama native boasts a 6-4.5, 215-pound frame with projectable bend and explosion. He made a bunch of plays for Vestavia Hills High School during his junior season and quickly became a national recruit. Ross has flirted with several programs this summer, but he's now ready to decide. The No. 5 uncommitted defender in America, according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings, has set an announcement date for August 21st, 2023. He will decide between Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and Texas.

He made official visits to Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas this summer while also stopping by Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to unofficially visit the Crimson Tide on June 15th, 2023. Ross has been high on Tennessee throughout his recruitment - there was speculation he was ready to commit earlier in the summer, but Ross was adamant that he planned to wait until the winter months to announce. Those plans have quickly changed, and Tennessee is ready.

Garner spent a lot of time building a foundation in this one. Tennessee struck out on five-star Missouri defensive end commit Williams Nwaneri and may lose five-star defensive end target Kamarion Franklin to Auburn, according to recent reporting. Ross is the top-edge target on their board and has been for a while. The coaches will do their best to close out this one in the coming days, and Tennessee fans should prepare for the final push.
