Multiple Longhorns Highlight PFF’s Top 100 NFL Draft Board
Four Texas Longhorns appeared on PFF’s Top 100 NFL Draft Board. Bijan Robinson, Moro Ojomo, Demarvion Overshown, and Keondre Coburn made the list.
Most notable and likely first-round pick running back Robinson. During his career at Texas Robinson dominated the Big 12 Conference and was a Heisman contender last season.
The winner of the 2022 Doak Walker Award this past season, which annually honors the nation's best running back, Robinson led the Big 12 in carries (258), rushing yards (1,580) and rushing touchdowns (18) during the regular season. He also led the nation with 1,894 total scrimmages yards (1,580 rushing, 314 receiving) and was second in total touchdowns (20).
The four Longhorns listed will end last year’s disappointing turnout of zero players drafted. Texas was one of only ten power five programs that failed to have a player drafted. That streak will end in 2023 as the Longhorns are expected a strong showing with four players in the top 100.
One of the strengths of the Longhorns team in 2022 was the defense. As PFF lists three defensive players representing Texas sit inside the list. Linebacker Overshown is a player who could shoot up draft boards as he shined during Senior Bowl practices.
In his final season at Texas, Overshown anchored a vastly improved Longhorns defense. He recorded 96 total tackles, including 10 tackles for loss and four sacks, with five pass deflections showing that he can play the run and drop back into coverage if needed.
The NFL Draft begins April 27th in Kansas City, Missouri. Expect multiple Longhorn names to be named during the first several rounds.
