USC, LSU and Florida 'standing out' to 4-star top 100 prospect
USC has been red hot on the recruiting trail in the class of 2024 (more on that later) and the staff is beginning to make inroads in the 2025 class.
Class of 2025 McKinney (Texas) linebacker Riley Pettijohn recently told 247Sports.com's Mike Roach: "LSU, USC and Florida are all standing out to me right now."
Pettijohn is the No. 54 ranked prospect in the 2025 class, per 247Sports.com.
He went on to say of the Trojans: "I visited USC in April and it was a good facility. The coaches are really nice and my teammate Bryan Jackson is committed there."
Pettijohn is a name to keep an eye on...
CLASS OF 2024 UPDATE
In the last two weeks, USC has added seven total commits in the class of 2024. All seven prospects officially visited the weekend of June 2.
Three-star Cherry Creek (Englewood, Colo.) offensive lineman Hayden Treter was the first player who visited to give a verbal to the Trojans. He announced his decision on Sunday morning after the visit. Later that day, four-star Clearwater (Fla.) safety Jarvis Boatwright also picked USC.
On Monday, four-star Serra (Gardena, Calif.) cornerback Dakoda Fields and four-star Booker T. Washington (Atlanta) defensive lineman Kameryn Fountain committed, but USC still wasn't done. The Trojans secured a verbal pledge from four-star Central Catholic (Modesto, Calif.) offensive lineman Manasse Itete later that day too.
Then last Friday, four-star 2024 Cheshire Academy (Conn.) linebacker Elijah Newby committed to USC. On Tuesday, four-star Hiram (Ga.) tight end Walter Matthews also pledged.
