USC is red hot on the recruiting trail. The Trojans added six class of 2024 commits last week and a seventh pledged early Wednesday morning.

The latest commit is four-star Hiram (Ga.) tight end Walter Matthews, the No. 90 ranked recruit nationally. 247Sports.com rates Matthews as the No. 7 tight end prospect in the 2024 class. He chose USC over Florida, South Carolina and a number of other high profile programs.

Matthews pledge comes in the wake of three-star Cherry Creek (Englewood, Colo.) offensive lineman Hayden Treter, four-star Clearwater (Fla.) safety Jarvis Boatwright, four-star Serra (Gardena, Calif.) cornerback Dakoda Fields, four-star Booker T. Washington (Atlanta) defensive end Kameryn Fountain, four-star Central Catholic (Modesto, Calif.) offensive lineman Manasse Itete and four-star Cheshire Academy (Conn.) linebacker Elijah Newby all picking USC.

Including Matthews, all seven of the newly committed prospects officially visited USC two weeks ago. The Trojans now have ten committed recruits in their 2024 class.

USC is expected to host an even bigger official visit weekend beginning on Friday.

TIGHT END RECRUITING

USC has loaded up at the tight end position over the last two recruiting cycles. The Trojans signed three TE's in their 2023 recruiting class, which included five-star Duce Robinson as well as Walker Lyons and Kade Eldridge. Matthews' commitment gives USC two tight ends in 2024.
