The MLB offseason is still going strong, and many of the top free agents have yet to sign. But with a new year, comes new power rankings.

In MLB.com's first rankings of 2024, the Los Angeles Angels find themselves toward the bottom of the pile. They come in at No. 24, which seems fitting for where they are right now as a team.

They can make the jump forward for the new set of rankings, but it will take some nice work by the front office. The Angels have been relatively quiet so far in free agency, so the main work for them starts now.

With them losing two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani to the crosstown Los Angeles Dodgers, they have a big hole to fill in their lineup. The Halos have plenty of holes around the roster, with the biggest priority for the team being starting pitching.

They have been linked with starting pitchers Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery to headline the rotation, but historically, the Angels have been hesitant to hand out large free-agent deals to pitchers.

Maybe the organization makes an exception this offseason after losing Ohtani, but that remains to be seen.

The Halos have also been linked with slugger Teoscar Hernandez and J.D. Martinez. Both players could help fill the void left by Ohtani, and give them more power in the middle of the lineup.

This Angels front office has promised to be aggressive in adding talent, so it's time for them to make good on their promises. The fan base is starved for a winning season, and the hope is that they can deliver it in 2024.
