Angels News: Exec Downplays Updated Diagnosis for Anthony Rendon
The time that Anthony Rendon has spent with the Los Angeles Angels organization has been a very strange one. After being one of the more consistent players in the game prior to joining the Angels, Rendon has dealt with numerous injuries over the last few years that have kept him out of the lineup.
He has yet to play in more than 58 games in a season for the Halos, and it has hurt them on the field. Rendon was a major part of their roster construction, so his availability issues have really hurt this team.
General Manager Perry Minasian gave some thoughts on the entire situation regarding Rendon, reiterating that they need him out on the field.
“For us, we need to get Anthony on the field and playing. He’s a really good player and he enhances (the team) when he plays. We have a way better chance of winning games with the attitude he plays with, the baseball IQ, what he does in the batter’s box. He’s one of those winning players who will find a way to do what needs to be done to win.”

Recently Rendon spoke to the media and said that he had been dealing with a fractured tibia. It was an injury that the Angels hadn’t disclosed, so it was a little strange that Rendon was the one to share the news. Minasian said that the diagnosis of the third baseman's injury doesn’t matter and that he still remains out of the lineup.
“The diagnosis doesn’t matter. It is treated the same way,” Minasian said.

The entire situation with Rendon is a strange one, but this is how the Angels have done things this season. It’s another weird thing that has happened with this organization over this season.
They will enter the offseason with a ton of questions to answer, with one being about the future of Rendon. The infielder still has a few years left on his contract, so it will be something to watch play out.
