WATCH: Ozzie Albies blows game open with a late three-run tater in San Diego
While the Braves are off to a sizzling start this season, one minor quibble could be the imbalance between their early-inning offense and their late-inning offense. While the team scored single runs in the second and fourth innings to stake Spencer Strider to a 2-0 lead, Ozzie Albies decided to more than double that lead with one swing of the bat in the eighth.
Facing Padre reliever Nabil Crismatt, Albies muscled a 3-2 change-up just over the center-field wall in spacious Petco Park. The tater brought home Matt Olson and Sean Murphy, who'd singled earlier in the inning to end his streak of consecutive extra-base hits at 11. His fourth-inning homer had set an Atlanta Braves record for consecutive extra-base knocks. The Braves now lead 5-1 as we head into the ninth inning.
Tomorrow's game is a late afternoon affair for Braves fans, with first pitch scheduled for 4:10 ET. The game broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports South, and is available on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
