Multiple Guardians Selected To 2023 MLB All-Star Game
The All-Star game wouldn't be complete without a few selections from the AL Central contending Cleveland Guardians. While the team has gone through its rough patches, there are still a few players that deserved to be showcased as MLB's best players.
Emmanuel Clase - CP
Emmanuel Clase was the first Guardian to get the nod during ESPN's All-Star Selection Show. Clase has had an open-and-down season but is still one of the best relievers in baseball.
He's currently leading the league in games with 40, games finished with 34 and saves with 24. Clase also has a 2.56 ERA, 1.112 WHIP, and averages 8.4 SO/9.
This will be Clase's second All-Star Game. He pitched in the 2022 game and helped the American League secure the victory by recording the save in the ninth inning. Maybe he'll get the same opportunity this season!
Jose Ramirez - 3B
Is anyone really surprised at this point?
Jose Ramirez was the second Guardian to make the AL All-Star team as an infield reserve. Jose's .297 batting average and .887 OPS is the highest among AL third baseman.
He's more than deserving to represent Cleveland in Seattle and there's a legitimate case to be made that Ramirez should be starting for the American League.
Guardians and baseball fans can watch Emmanuel Clase and Jose Ramirez participate in the All-Star game on Tuesday, July 11 at 8:00 PM EST.
