Dwyane Wade Gives Shout Out To Alma Mater For Winning First Big East Tournament Championship

Dwyane Wade celebrated Marquette defeating Xavier in the title game

Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade is among the most famous people to attend Marquette University.

So you can imagine his excitement when his alma mater completed a first in school history. The Marquette men's basketball team defeated Xavier in the Big East Tournament championship game Saturday, clinching an automatic bid into the NCAAs.

It was the first time the school accomplished the feat.

Wade made his happiness known via social media.

When he saw a pic of the Empire State Building lit up with Marquette's blue and gold school colors, he tweeted his reaction.

Wade is considered the greatest player in Marquette history. He led the program to the NCAA Final Four in 2003, losing to Kentucky. Wade recorded a triple-double that game, basically putting him on the map. Later, he was drafted by the Heat and matched his collegiate success, winning three NBA titles.

He is expected to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Memorial Hall of Fame next month.
