ESPN's Kendrick Perkins On The Miami Heat: "We Just Keep Disrespecting Them Goons From Dade County"
The Miami Heat are among the league's most least-talked about teams this season.
A slow start left them behind the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers and even Cleveland Cavaliers. Even though the Heat were one victory from the NBA Finals last year, they have earned little national respect.
And that could help them the second half of the season and the playoffs. At least that's how ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins feels. On a recent episode of ESPN's NBA Today, Perkins said the Heat have dealt with disrespect all season.
"We just keep disrespecting them goons from Dade County," Perkins said. "I'm talking about Erik Spoelstra and the Miami Heat. When we think about last year, them going to the Eastern Conference finals. They were a Jimmy Butler pull-up three from advancing to the NBA Finals."
Perkins said the recent signing of Kevin Love only adds to the Heat's chances of making another deep postseason run.
"I love the addition of Kevin Love because it now gives them spacing for [Butler] and Bam Adebayo to operate," Perkins said.
