Lakers GM Speaks On Team's Newfound Youth Compared to Previous Seasons

The Lakers are ready to run this season!

One goal of the Lakers this offseason was to make sure that the team brought back most of the core from the team that helped get them to the Western Conference Finals last season. LA had major success with their revamped roster after the trade deadline, and they decided that they wanted to run things back.

The team was able to bring back most players, and they were also able to upgrade around the edges of the roster as well. General Manager Rob Pelinka did a great job this offseason, and he deserves his flowers for putting this roster together.

But one underrated aspect of the Lakers roster is the youth that they were able to get along the way. The team wanted to get younger, and faster to be able to keep up with some of the other teams in the league, and they did just that.

Bringing in guys like Christian Wood, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes and Gabe Vincent among others allows LA to get younger, while still having quality players. Additionally, bringing back guys like Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell and Rui Hachimura was a big part of this youth movement.

Putting these guys alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who is only 30 years old himself, makes for a great roster. This team has all of the tools to win the title this season if they can remain healthy.

Injuries have plagued this team in recent years, which is also why they decided to go with a younger overall team. But they showed what they could do when healthy last season.

This could be the final year with James on the roster, so LA will need to take advantage of this opportunity. They enter the year with flexibility on the roster to match up against any opposing team in the league. The Lakers won't have anything easy this season, but they wouldn't want it any other way.
