Lakers News: West Rival Zeroing In On Top Remaining Free Agent Big Man

The center market keeps getting smaller and smaller..

As the Los Angeles Lakers look to fill out their last few roster spots, the big emphasis for the team is getting another big man. They signed former New Orleans Pelicans center Jaxson Hayes to backup Anthony Davis but even with that, their front court is a little thin. The team has been looking into all sorts of options for their 14th roster spot but the market seems to be getting smaller and smaller by the day.

One player that they were looking into was former Orlando Magic center Bol Bol but it's not being reported that he will be signing with the rival Phoenix Suns. LA now needs to pivot in another direction to find some center help.

Bol would have been a decent addition to the team as a purely depth option. In 21.5 minutes per game last year for Orlando, Bol averaged 9.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. He is listed at seven-foot-two so he would have given the Lakers some extreme size to work with. But alas, he heads off to the desert to join Phoenix.

LA is still hoping that they can find some decent depth for their front court but the center market is pretty dry at this point. Christian Wood is a good option still available but he may be out of their price range unfortunately.

They also may wait until the conclusion of NBA summer league to allow two-way player Colin Castleton more time to show whether he could be apart of the rotation as well. So far, Castleton has looked good but it's still early.

The team could always wait to see if any players become available that they didn't see coming to fill the spot as they have time to wait. It'll be interesting to see where the team goes from here as they look to fortify the rotation for next season.
