Magic PG Cole Anthony: Jonathan Isaac 'Best Defender I've Ever Seen in My Life!'
Defense is somewhat of a lost art in today's NBA, as the league has shifted to scoring well over 100 points most games. But Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac still takes pride in what he can do on the defensive end.
Isaac is one of the most intense players on defense you will see in the league today, and he loves being able to guard the other team's best players night in and night out. After the Magic's win against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, his teammate Cole Anthony had some very high praise for the defensive-minded forward.
"I told him, you're the best defender I've ever seen in my life," Anthony said. "It's incredible... because it's one through five, he moves his feet, guards the post, anticipates, he's got a quick twitch. Just the most versatile defender I've ever seen in my life."
Isaac finished the game against the Bulls with one steal and an absurd three blocks, and he was also able to score seven points and grab 12 boards. He has accumulated 11 blocks on the Magic's last six games, as his length on defense can be intimidating to opposing players.
Magic Pull Off Comeback in OT Win vs. Bulls
When Isaac was coming out of Florida State, he drew many comparisons to Kawhi Leonard as a result of his length and versatility on defense. Injuries set him back for a few years, but now Isaac is back on the floor and is making his impact felt.
Isaac and the rest of the Magic will be back in action tomorrow against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the new-look Oklahoma City Thunder. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET in the Kia Center.
