Warriors Confident They Can Stop Domantas Sabonis
After arriving in Sacramento via the Tyrese Haliburton trade, center Domantas Sabonis has been a revelation for the Kings. The talented big man is a primary reason why Sacramento was able to secure the Western Conference's 3rd seed, and he projects to be vital to any deep playoff run the Kings can make.
One of the major question marks surrounding Golden State in recent years has been their front court depth. Often going small with Draymond Green at the five, Golden State can quickly become undersized, especially against talented centers. Defeating Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in last year’s playoffs despite this, Golden State has proven that they have the personnel up front to slow down elite bigs.
Warriors center Kevon Looney recently alluded to this when asked about Sabonis, citing himself and other Warriors front-court players as reasons why the team believes they can stop the Kings big man.
Slowing down Sabonis will be key to Golden State's success, as they will already have their hands full with De'Aaron Fox and the other quick guards Sacramento has. This projects to be a very fast-paced series, but Sabonis is often the engine that can make Sacramento thrive in the half-court as well.
From his comments, it is clear that Kevon Looney is up for the challenge of defending the talented Kings center.
