QB Start of the Week: Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders (vs. CIN)
Both Russell Wilson (QB1 through Week 10) and Aaron Rodgers (QB6) are on bye this week, so you may find yourself in need of a Week 11 streamer. Fortunately, there are several viable streaming options, with Derek Carr—available in 43% of Yahoo! leagues, as of this writing—as arguably the best of the bunch.
Only Drew Brees (74.3%) has a higher completion rate this season than Carr (70.8%), who has compiled a 12-to-2 TD-INT ratio over the past seven games. During that seven-game stretch, Carr has thrown multiple touchdowns five times. While he has been more efficient than prolific, this week’s matchup sets Carr up with an opportunity to be both.
The winless Bengals have surrendered a league-high 9.0 yards per pass attempt and the third-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Carr and the Raiders are double-digit favorites and owners of this week’s highest implied total based on Vegas odds.
QB Sit of the Week: Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. NE)
Throwing the ball 29 or fewer times in four of his past six games, Carson Wentz has failed to reach the 200-yard milestone in all four of those sub-30 attempt weeks. In addition, Wentz has only one passing score in four of his past five games. A matchup against the Patriots may lead to a few more pass attempts if Philadelphia falls behind, but the Eagles are only 3.5-point home underdogs this week and it’s easier for teams to run on the Pats than it is to pass.
If the volume isn’t there, Wentz is unlikely to have an efficient performance. Not only do the Patriots allow the fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, but they lead the NFL in yards per attempt allowed (5.3) and have surrendered just three passing touchdowns this season.
