Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson on Being Inducted Into Bengals Ring of Honor: 'Means Much More Than Getting a Gold Jacket'
CINCINNATI — Bengals legends Chad Johnson and Boomer Esiason will be inducted into the Ring of Honor this season.
They'll join Paul Brown, Anthony Munoz, Ken Anderson, Ken Riley, Willie Anderson and Isaac Curtis. The ceremony will take place during Cincinnati's Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football at Paycor Stadium.
“It means everything,” Johnson said in a statement. “To be shown appreciation for all the years of hard work is awesome. It’s a great honor and I’m very appreciative. I’m getting my flowers now while I can smell them. To me, this honor means much more than getting a gold jacket, honestly. This is home. The fans understand the good times and the bad times, the ups and downs, and they accepted me as my true authentic self. This is a welcome home—you will always be a part of us—and this means a lot to me. A lot.”
Johnson is Cincinnati's all-time leader in receptions (751) receiving yards (10,783) and receiving touchdowns (66). He played for the Bengals from 2001-10. He made six Pro Bowls and was named a first-team All-Pro twice during his 10-year run in Cincinnati.
