CINCINNATI — Will Joe Burrow bounce back?

That's a question fantasy football owners are asking ahead of the Bengals' Week 2 matchup against the Ravens.

Burrow completed just 14-of-31 passes for 82 yards and didn't have a touchdown last week against the Browns. Here are our reasons for optimism and why fantasy owners should be leery about putting Burrow in their lineups.

Why Burrow Could Bounce Back

Burrow has a history of responding to adversity. Last season he failed to reach the 200-yard passing mark once (199, Week 2) and responded by throwing for 275 yards and three touchdowns against the Dolphins four days later.

In 2021, he threw two interceptions and struggled against the Chargers in Week 11. He bounced back the following week, throwing for 348 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions against the 49ers.

He's bounced back before. There's plenty of reasons to believe he can do it again.

Reasons For Concern

Burrow scored 28 total fantasy points combined in two regular season matchups against Baltimore last season.

Ravens defensive coordinator Mike McDonald put together a scheme that kept the Bengals' star on his toes. Burrow averaged 216 yards and 1.5 touchdown passes in those two games.

Is Burrow 100% healthy? His calf is the major wrinkle in the "bounce back" argument. It's one thing to think a healthy Burrow would play well on Sunday. Is a less than 100% Burrow going to be able to play his best game against the Ravens since the 2021 season?

Bottom Line

Joseph Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports

Burrow is hard to bench. He's a borderline top-10 fantasy quarterback this week, but there's no reason why he can't throw for 250 yards and at least two scores against a banged up Ravens defense that won't have Marcus Williams or Marlon Humphrey
