CINCINNATI — Joe Burrow is back

The Bengals star quarterback practiced for the first time since suffering a strained right calf on July 27.

No sleeve. No limp. No signs of pain, concern or worry.

Burrow went through his normal throwing session in front of reporters during the portion of practice that was open to the media.

He looked like his normal self. From licking his right hand after throwing, to settling into his stance before each snap.

Burrow's throws were on target. He looked crisp, healthy and ready.

He still has 11 more days before the start of the regular season.

The calf was a major concern for many, while others are wondering if the Bengals are going to sign Burrow to a long-term extension before Week 1.

His participation in Wednesday's practice should ease the unsettled minds of fans that are worried about his contract.

If Burrow was worried, he wouldn't have been on the field. If it was a true concern and he didn't think a deal would get done, then he could've gotten treatment on his calf during Wednesday's practice and continued to throw behind-the-scenes like he's done for weeks.

Instead, he walked out to the practice field with Jake Browning and new practice squad quarterback Will Grier. He went through every drill and looked like the same guy we saw before his injury on July 27.

Burrow sent a message on Wednesday and did it without saying a word.

He knows the contract will get done. In the meantime, he's focused on shaking off any potential rust and preparing for the season opener on Sept. 10 in Cleveland.
