CINCINNATI — The Bengals are signing former Cowboys quarterback Will Grier to their practice squad, league sources tell All Bengals.

Cincinnati was in the quarterback market, but didn't plan on claiming any of the recently released signal-callers.

ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the news.

Grier completed 29 of 35 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns in Dallas' 31-16 win in over the Raiders in their preseason finale. He also ran for 54 yards and two more scores. He was expendable after the Cowboys traded for Trey Lance.

The 28-year-old has spent the past two seasons behind Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush. Now he joins a Bengals team that has two quarterbacks on the roster.

Joe Burrow is expected to be back in the near future after missing most of training camp with a right calf strain. Jake Browning beat out Trevor Siemian for the backup job.

Grier can learn the Bengals offensive system while he's on the practice squad. It gives Cincinnati a legitimate third option behind Burrow and Browning.

He was picked in the third-round (100th overall) by the Panthers in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Cowboys added him to their roster after Carolina released him prior to the 2021 season.
