Ja'Marr Chase on His Elves Comment to Browns: 'Pissed on my Part'
CINCINNATI — The Bengals top playmaker didn't make many plays after calling the Cleveland Browns "elves" this week. Wide Receiver Ja'Marr Chase caught just five passes for 39 yards on Sunday and took accountability for his comments after the 24-3 loss.
"I'm just frustrated because I called them some elves and we just lost to some elves," Chase said. "So I'm pissed on my part. ... We got missed opportunities. We didn't capitalize on that sh*t and we lost.
Chase has now been held under 40 receiving yards seven times in his NFL career after catching five of nine targets on Sunday. It was one of the worst offensive showings since Joe Burrow became Cincinnati's quarterback.
"I'm holding it on me. I'm not doing all that," Chase said about finding the silver linings in this loss. "I'm trying to play my part and do what I could do for the team."
Chase has had great success against the Baltimore Ravens in his career as they travel to Cincinnati next weekend.
