Joe Burrow Says NFL Should Have Set Standard for All Turf Fields

Turf or Grass?
In this story:

CINCINNATI — The NFLPA called on all 32 NFL teams to install grass fields in wake of Aaron Rodgers' Achilles injury.

While the owners and the league sound hesitant to make that change, Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow weighed in on the issue.

"Last couple of years studies have come out how much safer grass fields are. I think that's important," Burrow said. "Obviously I think the most important thing is having a standard for the turf fields, having each turf field across the league having a standard and all of them are the same. Everywhere you go that has turf each turf is different. I think having uniformity across the league would be best."

Burrow makes an interesting point and this could be an ideal middle ground for the players and the league.

The Bengals are one of 17 teams that play their home games on turf fields. Fifteen of the 30 NFL stadiums have turf. Setting a league standard makes sense, especially considering half of the stadiums have grass.

Making sure the artificial surfaces are all the same or have to meet higher standards than they currently have is a reasonable fix to an issue that is brought up annually.
