Sam Hubbard Discusses Cincinnati's Winning Culture: 'It All Starts With Our Quarterback'
CINCINNATI — Sam Hubbard is getting ready for another season in Lou Anarumo's defense as continuity reigns supreme across the Bengals' roster.
Hubbard discussed how the culture has changed as more players like Joe Burrow and others became entrenched in the organization.
"I think it goes back a long way," Hubbard said about the shift to a winning culture. "We struggled in Cincinnati for many years. I grew up a Cincinnati fan and you know, one of the longest-tenured Bengals nowadays, but you know, it all starts with our quarterback, we got a great quarterback that we believe in in Joe Burrow, and having a guy like that that you can always play hard for and you always know you're in every game, you know it inspires the whole team.
"And then our coaching staff and front office have done a good job just collecting guys that fit our culture, self-motivated guys that want to win and have experience winning. Kind of builds on each other, and it's up to us as players to keep that standard rolling."
Hubbard is fresh off his second-best season in the NFL by approximate value as he enters his age 28 season.
He posted the second-most tackles for loss (11) and the most QB hits (22) out of any of his NFL campaigns last season.
