Zac Taylor Dives Into Bengals Offensive Struggles: 'Weren't Good Enough Overall on Third Down'
CINCINNATI — The Bengals failed in two of the game's three phases on Sunday resulting in a 24-3 loss to Cleveland. Cincinnati fell to 1-5 in their last six against the division rival because the offense and special teams lagged heavily behind the defense.
Head coach Zac Taylor discussed the issues postgame.
"It was tough for both teams. That's not just us," Taylor said about the weather issues. "And so then it goes into managing those conditions, doing a great job running the ball, which I was pleased, for the most part with what we did in the run game, and in special teams and field position. So I think that they did a better job handling that than we did today. And I gotta give credit to them there."
Cincinnati's passing offense was non-existent on Sunday. Joe Burrow completed a career-low 45% of his passes for a career-low 82 yards.
"I saw some good things from Joe," Taylor said. "That's a really tough defense. And again, it's a real challenge when the passing game is gonna be like that, those conditions, especially in the first half. We settled down, we just weren't good enough overall on third down."
Cincinnati gave themselves no chance by going 2-of-15 on third down and 0-for-1 on the lone fourth down call. Everything felt disjointed on a day the Bengals will try flush and move on for another massive division showdown against Baltimore next weekend.
