Ja'Marr Chase on Bengals Gutsy Win: 'Got to Have Each Other's Backs'
CINCINNATI — The Bengals scraped by 19-16 on Monday Night Football in a gutsy win over the Los Angeles Rams with Joe Burrow fighting through injury.
Ja'Marr Chase went off for a season-high in catches (12) and yards (141) as he largely kept the passing game on track.
“That’s how we’ve got to be—have each other’s backs," Chase said about Burrow throwing 40-plus times. "I think that’s why our bond is so strong and our chemistry is so good. We just have to make sure we’re on the same page, and me being there for him at all moments is the reason why we’re so good.”
Chase had justified gripes with a lack of targets and flow in the passing game so far this season. That all changed Monday with a whopping 15 targets in all kinds of alignments.
“I’m not really thinking about it like that. I’m a team player, man," Chase said about his increased workload. "I’m really happy we’re winning. When we lose, I hate it. But when we win, I’m all for it.”
Cincinnati now tries to get the offense on track even more with its second 20-plus point game of the season against Tennessee.
