Winners and Losers From Cincinnati Bengals' 27-24 Loss to Baltimore Ravens
The Bengals are 0-2 after Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Ravens.
Here are our winners and losers from the AFC North showdown:
Winners
Tee Higgins
After being held without a catch against the Browns, Higgins answered with a great performance against the Ravens. He finished the game with 89 yards on eight receptions and two touchdowns. The Bengals offense struggled early on, but Higgins helped them keep the game close as the game went on.
The Bengals passing game has been miserable through two weeks, but Higgins should be able to build off this game as the offense continues to develop.
Charlie Jones
It was a rough start to the game for the Bengals, but Jones gave them some life with an 81-yard punt return touchdown.
Jones had a slow start as a returner last week, but his return today is a really good sign that he can be the long term punt returner for the Bengals.
Offensive Line
Despite having bad numbers on offense, the Bengals offensive line looked solid against the Ravens. Baltimore only sacked Joe Burrow once and he was kept clean for most of the game.
The star quarterback has had a very slow start to the season, but he’s an elite player and it’s a good sign that the offensive line is playing well.
Losers
Zac Taylor
For the second season in a row the Bengals are off to a slow start. Even though Burrow missed six weeks of camp, they have too much talent to play at this level.
The Bengals offense has looked unorganized through two games. Their passing game has been horrible and their rushing game has been inconsistent. Taylor needs to get the offense back to their form from last year quickly following another 0-2 start.
Joe Burrow
The Bengals star quarterback missed six weeks of training camp with a calf injury and it has showed through the first two games.
He had some really quality throws toward the end of the game, which is a good sign. Ideally for the Bengals he’ll get better as he gets more reps, but the start of the season hasn’t been good.
Bengals Defense
The Bengals defense is a huge reason why they've been to back-to-back AFC Championship Games, but they struggled against the Ravens.
They failed to put pressure on Lamar Jackson and the secondary left many Ravens receivers open. The Bengals have a younger secondary, which could be a reason for some of the struggles, but they need to figure it out quick after dropping to 0-2.
