Drue Chrisman Addresses Medical Scare: 'Hope' to Return Next Week

The punter collapsed in the team facility during the first week of training camp.

CINCINNATI — Drue Chrisman had a scary moment at the team facility last week but told reporters he's working his way back to punting soon.

The punter collapsed in the Bengals' weight room and was rushed to the hospital in the middle of last week.

“I had a procedure a couple of days ago, so we're just waiting for that to heal,” Chrisman told reporters. “All the other tests we've done have come back really positive.”

Chrisman wasn't ready to share the nature of the "procedure" but is ready to get back on the field to jump into the punting battle with 2023 sixth-round pick Brad Robbins. The scab on his head from the shared picture in the hospital happened as a result of the weight room fall.

"My hope is next week," Chrisman told reporters about his return.
