Former Bengals Defensive Coordinator Mike Zimmer Taking Same Role With Dallas Cowboys

Zimmer guided some ferocious Bengals' defenses.

CINCINNATI — The Dallas Cowboys are hiring former Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer in the same role to replace Dan Quinn according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Zimmer hasn’t coached in the league since his tenure as Vikings head coach ended in 2021.

He was the Bengals' defensive coordinator from 2008-13. The veteran coach previously worked for the Cowboys from 1994-2006, taking on the defensive coordinator role from 2000-06, before spending one season in Atlanta.

His Bengal defenses ranked outside the NFL's top 10 in points allowed just twice in six seasons.
