It Looks Like Bengals Will Start 2023 Season on Road For First Time in Joe Burrow's Career
CINCINNATI — Joe Burrow and the Bengals may open the season on the road for the first time in his career.
Cincinnati isn't playing on Monday Night Football in Week 1. The NFL announced Aaron Rodgers and the Jets will play the Buffalo Bills.
The Chiefs are hosting the Lions on opening night.
With the Reds playing in Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon, a 1 p.m. ET start for the Bengals at Paycor Stadium doesn't make much sense logistically.
That means the Bengals could open the season on the road for the first time since 2019 when they played in Seattle. The NFL could put Cincinnati on Sunday Night Football, but that's the only home scenario that makes sense.
Couple that with the fact that we know who the Bills and Chiefs are playing Week 1 and a primetime season opener looks less likely.
For what it's worth, Burrow is 1-2 in home openers. The Bengals beat the Vikings in 2021, but lost to the Chargers in his rookie season and lost to the Steelers last year.
