CINCINNATI — Bengals running back Joe Mixon was found not guilty of aggravated menacing this week after being charged earlier this year. WKRC's Christian Hauser reported the verdict as the multi-day trial ended on Thursday morning.

"Knowing the facts, knowing Joe as a person and having tremendous faith in the legal systems ability to get to the truth we had no doubt of the eventual outcome," Mixon's agent Peter Schaffer said in a statement. "This vindicates Joe as a person and that is what’s most important. Back to the business of football.”

It was a misdemeanor charge of the first degree, which is punishable by up to six months in jail and a maximum of a $1,000 fine.

Mixon was accused of pointing a gun at a woman in downtown Cincinnati while driving between Second and Walnut Street at The Banks.

The 27-year-old allegedly told the victim, “You should be popped in the face. I should shoot you. The police can’t get me,” according to court records.

The altercation happened at 12:49 p.m. ET on Jan. 21. The Bengals left to go to Buffalo to play the Bills in the Divisional Round of the playoffs later that afternoon.

The charges were initially dropped, but were refiled after it was assigned to a new investigator.

The Bengals re-worked Mixon's contract last month. He's set to make $5.5 million in base salary this season and could make another $2 million in incentives.
