Report: Miami Dolphins Have 'Emerged as Frontrunner' in Potential Deshaun Watson Trade

The three-time Pro Bowler wants out of Houston.

The Miami Dolphins "have emerged as the frontrunner" in a potential trade for Deshaun Watson according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports. 

The Panthers, Broncos and Eagles showed interest, but Watson's contractual right to approve his next destination—which was agreed to when he signed his contract extension—has had an impact on where he'll end up. 

Robinson's report comes just hours after Mike Florio reported that there is "mounting chatter" that Watson could be traded in the coming days.

The Texans are asking for three first round picks and multiple second rounders in any deal. 

Watson is currently facing civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual misconduct against 22 women. The NFL didn't put Watson on the commissioner’s exempt list prior to the start of training camp.

Robinson notes that teams, including the Dolphins, would ask the Texans for pick protections in a potential trade to mitigate the damage if Watson is suspended or if he faces criminal prosecution. No criminal charges have been filed up to this point. 

Sources said teams have angled for pick protections in any trade, to mitigate a potential #NFL suspension or criminal prosecution tied to ongoing investigations by the FBI, Harris County prosecutor and Houston PD, into sexual assault allegations from multiple women.
