Rams Head Coach Sean McVay Praises New Bengals Safety Nick Scott

The 27-year-old signed a 3-year contract with Cincinnati.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals signed safety Nick Scott earlier this month to help stabilize the back end of their secondary following the departures of Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell.

The 27-year-old signed a 3-year, $12 million contract with Cincinnati earlier this month. The front office and coaches believe he's an ascending player. He worked his way from seventh round pick to so starting safety with the Rams and helped Los Angeles win Super Bowl LVI.

"The thing I appreciate the most about Nick is he was obviously a great player who started out as a key special teams contributor and he's continued to earn every single opportunity that he got," Rams head coach Sean McVay told Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. "His play demeanor, his toughness and his consistency I think are things that really separate him. He'll be a great factor for you guys in Cincinnati. We hate to lose him, but I'm, so happy to see him go to a great place with Zac. He's earned the right to be able to get rewarded. I know he's excited about being closer to home and playing with a lot of great players. It will be fun to watch him go shine."

Scott made 22 starts for the Rams (including playoffs) over the past two seasons. He's an athletic, versatile piece that should fit nicely alongside Dax Hill in the Bengals' secondary.
