CINCINNATI — The Bengals agreed to sign Joe Burrow to a massive five-year, $275 million extension on Thursday night. Once the deal becomes official, he'll be the highest-paid player in the NFL.

What does that mean for Tee Higgins' future? The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie contract.

Tyler Boyd hopes the Bengals are still able to sign Higgins to a long-term deal.

"He got the short end of the stick. He’s worth a lot," Boyd told Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer. They have to come up with some type of agreement. I hope they get something done over the next couple weeks."

The Bengals are expected to attempt to find common ground on a contract with Higgins between now and Sunday's season opener, but it appears unlikely.

Boyd is hoping Higgins gets paid. Burrow probably feels the same way. Whether or not the Bengals make it work is a different question.
