It's possible the 26-year-old star signal-caller is back after missing more than a month with a calf strain.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals practice on Wednesday for the first time since trimming the roster to 53 players

They'll fill out their practice squad over the next 24 hours, but the major question involves Joe Burrow. Will the star quarterback practice for the first time since suffering a calf strain on July 27?

"We’ll see," head coach Zac Taylor said on Tuesday.

Burrow hasn't practiced since straining his right calf more than a month ago. He has thrown regularly and worked out at team facilities throughout his recovery.

The regular season opener is just 11 days away. The Bengals have two practices this week. Getting him back on the field, even in a limited capacity, would be a positive sign that he'll be ready to play on Sept. 10 in Cleveland.

"I think he has a very healthy body and I'm encouraged by that," Taylor said with a smile.

Burrow and the Bengals are still working on a long-term contract extension. The goal is to have something done before the start of the regular season.

If he doesn't practice on Wednesday, it won't have anything to do with negotiations according to his head coach.

"No," Taylor said bluntly.

Burrow may not have skipped any practices due to his contract up to this point, but the chatter will get louder if he isn't out there this week.

The Bengals practice on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.
