Josh Allen Shines As Bills Lead Raiders At Halftime
Coming off one of the worst games of his career, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has found his rhythm in the first half against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
Allen has been nearly perfect through the first half, completing 18 of 21 passes for 142 yards and two touchdown as the Bills lead 21-10 heading into the break.
Unfortunately, one of those incompletions ended up being costly. The Bills were facing a fourth and goal on the Raiders' one-yard line, but Allen's pass for tight end Dawson Knox, who caught his first touchdown of the season earlier in the second quarter, fell incomplete. With the turnover on downs, Buffalo missed a golden opportunity to extend its lead before halftime.
Still, two touchdown drives and a third one that nearly hit the promised land is a good sign of improvement for the Bills. More importantly, they've managed to avoid the turnovers that plagued them against the New York Jets on Monday.
In fact, they've been the ones causing the turnovers. On the Raiders' second drive, Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard intercepted a Jimmy Garoppolo pass to set Buffalo up in great field position. Seven plays and 28 yards later, running back Latavius Murray found pay dirt from four yards out for his first touchdown as a Bill.
The Bills' run game has been relatively quiet overall, totaling 59 yards on 14 carries as a team. On the receiving end, Gabe Davis leads the way with 41 yards on three receptions, while Knox and receiver Khalil Shakir each have touchdowns.
For Vegas, Garoppolo has completed nine of 15 passes for 118 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Star receiver Davante Adams has been a thorn in the Bills' side, catching five passes for 79 yards and the Raiders' lone touchdown.
The Bills will get the ball to start the second half as Allen and company look to extend the lead.
