Browns Release DT Perrion Winfrey Following Incident With a gun
Cleveland Browns have cut ties with last year’s fourth-round pick Perrion Winfrey. The team announced they have released the defensive tackle. This comes after a report that Winfrey assaulted a woman in Cleveland, as well as showed a gun toward her.
This is not the first incident with Winfrey, who has been troubled from the time he was drafted. Winfrey has struggled to be a professional and this is just another incident. The accusation of the incident that happened on Euclid is under investigation by Cleveland police.
Cleveland now gets a bit thinner at defensive tackle but they make the right choice by releasing the troubled player. Hopefully for Winfrey’s sake and those around him, he’s able to find himself.
Now, it will be interesting to see if the Browns sign another defensive tackle. They very well could, as they’re relying on rookie Siaki Ika, Maurice Hurst, Tommy Togiai, and Trysten Hill to be depth alongside Dalvin Tomlinson and Jordan Elliott.
Winfrey appeared in 13 games as a rookie out of Oklahoma and made 22 tackles along the way. He will now be a free agent after hitting waivers.
