Browns LB Anthony Walker Excited Unique Situation, Says Browns Didn’t get it Done for Joe Woods

Cleveland Browns brought back Anthony Walker Jr. for what he calls a unique situation in 2023.

Walker is back in free agency on a one-year deal that made sense for both sides. Walker gets to return after a major injury and will still have the opportunity to lead the linebacker unit to potentially have a good season and receiver a better payday.

“It’s a unique situation. I’m combing back with obviously a new defensive coordinator,” said Walker on a recent radio appearance.

Of course, it’s a proven guy, proven leader, I know he’s going to take us to new heights defensively.”

Walker spent his first two years with the Browns playing for Joe Woods. Woods was removed from his position and now is the defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints.

“We love coach Joe Woods, he was a great coach for us. But we didn’t get it done for him, that's just what it was.”

Walker spoke to Jim Schwartz while he was a free agent still in the Cleveland area. The Browns' middle linebacker has good things to say about Schwartz, that he was straight to the point and made him feel like he was going to be in Cleveland all along.

Schwartz’s Super Bowl win with the Philadelphia Eagles continues to be a common talking point from players and even coaches. Walker, like many others, is excited to work with someone who has made it that far.

At the end of the day, that’s the Browns' goal as well, so it’s only right.
