Browns Worked out Five Players to end May
Cleveland Browns ended the month of May by working out five players on defense as they continue to evaluate camp bodies prior to training camp next month. Daelin Hayes, Forrest Rhyne, Darryl Johnson, Mike Rose, and Michael Scot all worked out for the Browns today, per our own Noah Weiskopf.
Hayes is an edge player in a 4-3 defense, listed at 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds. The 25-year-old was a fifth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2021 and appeared in one game with them. Hayes played five years at Notre Dame and totaled nine sacks there.
Rhyne was an undrafted free agent linebacker out of Villanova that landed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. He was waived at the beginning of this month after spending the majority of last season on the Colts practice squad. Rhyne appeared in three games and had one special teams tackle. Interestingly enough, he played for Browns special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone in Indianapolis.
Johnson is a former seventh-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2019 and spent the last four seasons with them. Johnson, an edge rusher, had a sack in each of his first two seasons when he played a combined 31 games, he’s played just seven games over the last two years. Johnson comes from a small college in North Carolina A&T and is just 26 years old.
After a four-year career at Iowa State, Rose was undrafted in 2022 and spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad as a linebacker. Most recently, the Brecksville, Ohio native played in the XFL where he was drafted by the St. Louis Battlehawks.
Scott is an undrafted rookie linebacker out of South Dakota where he led the team in tackles for loss (8), and sacks (3) last season. Scott is listed at 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds.
Cleveland is in the midst of OTAs before they will have over a month off before they kick off training camp at the end of July.
