Report: Cleveland Browns QB Coach Could be an Offensive Coordinator Soon

Drew Petzing could be the Arizona Cardinals next offensive coordinator ... bad news for the Cleveland Browns.

If the Arizona Cardinals land on their preferred head coaching target, the Cleveland Browns could be looking for a new quarterbacks coach. Cardinals are keyed in on Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon as their next head coach. If that happens, Drew Petzing is rumored to be his offensive coordinator in Arizona.

Petzing has been the Browns quarterbacks coach for one season after leading the tight ends for the previous two seasons. Before that, Petzing was with the Minnesota Vikings organization from 2014-19, that's where he worked with both Kevin Stefanski and Gannon.

If the Browns lose Petzing to the Cardinals, it will be time to find a new quarterbacks coach for Deshaun Watson and co. While Watson has his own quarterback trainer, the Browns quarterback coach plays an important role for him as well, specifically during the season.

With the Eagles playing in the Super Bowl, the Cardinals won't even be able to move on Gannon until next week. This gives the Browns time to get a list of potential candidates they would want to fill Petzing's role, as Petzing is an obvious departure waiting to happen.
