Todd Bowles Provides Injury Update on Buccaneers Wide Receiver Mike Evans

After a solid start to last Sunday's game against the Saints, Mike Evans left the game due to a hamstring injury. Head Coach Todd Bowles provides an update on his injury status.

Buccaneers star wide receiver Mike Evans left the Saints game Sunday in the first half with what the Bucs listed as a hamstring injury. He was originally listed as questionable to return but was later ruled out for the rest of the game.

While the Buccaneers were able to put away the Saints handily and take control of the NFC South, losing Evans is concerning.

Luckily the Buccaneers have their bye in Week 5 so Evans will have 14 days to return to the field.

He has had an excellent start to the season and has been the focal point of this new offense with Dave Canales and Baker Mayfield. Through four games he has 31 catches, 337 yards, and three touchdowns leading the Buccaneers in all three categories.

Todd Bowles immediately after the win on Sunday said he did not have a definitive update on Evans hamstring injury but did mention that he "tweaked it" and the team needed to do more testing.

On Monday Bowles did not give an update on his injury timeline saying that Evans still needs to undergo testing to determine his injury status and that the team will have updates later.

Evans was on the sideline during the game working on an exercise bike and working with trainers attempting to re-enter the game before being ruled out.

Monday morning NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted that Evans had a "hamstring tweak" and that it does not appear to be a major injury.

Evans rarely misses time due to injury and has never missed more than 3 games in any season of his career.
