Budda Baker Reacts to Being Selected for Offseason Drug Test

The Arizona Cardinals' five-time Pro Bowl safety Budda Baker took to Twitter after being picked for a drug test.

Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker is trying to enjoy his offseason after experiencing a 4-13 record in 2022 while playing through various injuries in 15 games.

Yet, on Friday, Baker shared on social media that the NFL has asked him to take a drug test.

Signifying that it's in the NFL's words, Baker started his tweet in quotations, tweeting, "Budda you’ve been randomly selected for a drug test" and continued with his own perspective, writing, "I’m in Miami just wanting to put my feet in the sand."

Baker made his fifth Pro Bowl last season and was the only Cardinals player to start in the festivities.

However, the 27-year-old hasn't been the only player from the 2022 Cardinals team to be picked for a drug test. The recently retired J.J. Watt tweeted on February 21 that he was requested by the NFL to get checked for a performance-enhancing substance.

Watt playfully responded, tweeting, “I don’t know what happens when you click ‘Report Junk’ but I think I’m about to find out."

It'll be hard for Baker to dodge his way out of a drug test as he's still an active player in the NFL.

Nonetheless, once Baker completes the drug test, he'll have some time to relax in the offseason before offseason workouts begin for the 2023 season. That's when Baker will have the opportunity to get into the minds of first-year defensive-minded head coach Jonathan Gannon and new defensive coordinator Nick Rallis.

Baker and the Cardinals' defense will try to improve after allowing 348.9 yards and 26.4 points per game in 2022.
