Brian Flores Taking Vikings DC Job; Out of Cardinals Running
The Arizona Cardinals initially narrowed their list down to three names to replace Kliff Kingsbury as their head coach: Brian Flores, Mike Kafka and Lou Anarumo.
Now, that list has been trimmed.
The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly hiring Brian Flores as their new defensive coordinator, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Flores recently joined the Pittsburgh Steelers staff as their ILB coach after being fired from the Miami Dolphins after three years of leading them.
Flores is considered to be one of the strongest defensive minds in the league, and the Vikings are (for good reason) excited at the prospects of getting such a caliber of coach.
As for the Cardinals, Flores is just the latest name of interest to flee elsewhere. Sean Payton flirted with Arizona before heading out to Denver, DeMeco Ryans canceled his interview with the Cardinals and ultimately landed in Houston, and Frank Reich was the first coach Arizona interviewed before he was eventually hired by Carolina.
Kafka and Anarumo are the front-runners, though Arizona may be interested in speaking with either Philadelphia Eagles coordinators (OC Shane Steichen and DC Jonathan Gannon).
Aaron Glenn, Vance Joseph and Brian Callahan were reportedly informed they were out of contention last week.
