Long gone are the days where fans believe that success in the NFL revolves strictly around offense, it has become clear that Super Bowl teams are elite when they line up on both sides. This serves no different for the Los Angeles Chargers as they must improve their running defense heading into the 2023 season.

However, head coach Brandon Staley is not satisfied with their offensive output at the moment either. Despite Justin Herbert continuing to improve at the head of their passing game and Austin Ekeler proving to be versatile as a running back, Staley still wants to bring in more options.

This could be through the upcoming draft or he could take his pick from the free agents left in the open market. Either way, he made this very clear when he spoke to reporters at the NFL owner's meetings on Monday.

"You’re trying to be a group that’s hard to defend every snap, make them defend the entire football field, vertically, horizontally,” said Staley. “I think weapons come from a lot of different places. It can be a receiver. It can be a tight end. It can be a runner. What you’re looking for is weapons. That’s what makes you tough to defend — not just receivers." (Via Daniel Popper).

I definitely do think that LA's front office will look to improve their scoring game mainly in the draft. So many intriguing names have already been linked to their franchise such as Bijan Robinson, Deuce Vaughn, and Jordan Addison. All of these guys could make an immediate impact and these are just projected first-rounders.

It is also important to remember that whoever they add to their roster on offense will be working under brand-new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. He is bound to help them reach their full potential and was a huge signing this offseason.

I am looking forward to seeing how Staley makes good on this promise and believe young talent is the way to go.
